The red album

So this is the first record I remember loving, and the one that introduced me to The Beatles. When I was little I got a record player from my moms friend and then borrowed this record from my local library. I played the shit out of that record, and even copied a recording on a cassette so I could listen to it on my Walkman.

It would be years later when taking a Beatles guitar course that I would learn that the red album had more songs in it - So unbeknownst to me, a whole vinyl was missing from the set at the library.

Now, years later, I got a record player for Christmas. What's the 1st album I buy? A new copy of The Red Album- which the record store happened to just get in the day before.

So in the last day of 2015 I'll be listening to a fresh pressed copy of an old album, in complete order, for the first time.

PiBoIdMo is done!

I can't believe I kept up for the entire month!! It's been a while since I wrote regularly and I kinda miss it. I have a different voice when I write than my social/active self is on a day to day basis. Pretty proud that I managed to participate in PiBoIdMo 2015!

Picture Book idea Month

For info on PiBoIdMo: http://taralazar.com

In the last few months I've been mulling about a few stories. Some have popped into my head and just as quickly faded into wherever lost ideas go- others stick there and just occupy my mind at odd moments. It's been a while since I did creative writing and since this isn't graded per se, I shouldn't have too much anxiety about it. It's fun after all!

I think it's time for me to write out at least the idea or character or thoughts jumbled in my head in a slightly organized manner. So I'm joining in PiBoIdMo! Here's to some terrible ideas- or maybe some good ones- or at least springboards for books I can share with my baby and maybe even others.

2015 resolutions

With a baby on the way I find that my usual resolutions and goals lists have to be significantly trimmed back in the expectation that it will become difficult to sustain them with the unknown impact of a new child in our daily routine. I can imagine sometimes that I'll be some perfect blend of mom and artist, but if I truthfully look at it, there's going to be quite an upheaval with the arrival of our son. So here's my paired back and practical list:

1. Plan out and budget meals better.

2. Prep the nursery and don't overdo my plans on handmade crafted items for the baby's room.

3. Learn what I can before the baby comes and don't beat myself up when the learning curve gets bumpy along the way.

4. Create art and music when I can and when I don't have as much time as I'd like, spend time appreciating it.

5. Help my husband feel involved with care taking and not overwhelmed between childcare and work.
